PRINCE2 is an acronym for Projects in Controlled Environments, which is a process-based approach for effective project management. PRINCE2 course is widely recognized program and being used in the private sector all over the world. PRINCE2 is a well-known world-class international product that has been considered as the customary method for project management. It is not considered as a standard method for project management but at the same time provides enough flexibility and has an adjustable approach to suit all types of projects.
It is a computer based training program. It is a two-based certification program, the first is the foundation certification and the second is the practitioner certification.
The foundation is best suitable for a new and experienced project staff and also for consultant who are working in a Prince2 environment. This certification best tries to understand if the individual would be able to as an informed member of a project management team which is using the Prince2 methodology. The candidates are assessed based on their understanding of the principles and terminology of the method. The certification is based on a multiple choice exam of about 75 questions that need to be attempted in an hour and at least 38 answers need to be answered for the passing the exam.
Foundation certification is a pre- requisite requirement for a practitioner course. The practitioner is the second certification required for a Prince2 certification. This examination tests the candidate’s ability to apply the Prince2 to the already running and managing of a project existing and working in a Project2 environment. In addition to that the candidate is required to show that they can address the needs and problems of a specific project scenario such that they can apply and tune Prince2 accordingly. The examination for this certification is about 2.5 hours duration.
How can you get Prince2 training?
Prince2 is accredited by the APMG- Association of the project managers group. APMG especially endorses organizations by way of stringent process, to provide Prince2 training by accrediting them as ATO- accredited training organizations. Therefore Prince2 training should only be received from an ATO. There are certain tools provided by some organization, however these tools are accredited by APMG and are simply provided for support
